remember? remember. is a presentation of new works by Shea Kister. Inspired by her study of trauma’s effects on memory as well as personal and social relationships, Sheas work enlists notions of fragmentation, discontinuity, memory distortion, and dissociation through the use of scale, surface application, and mixed media. The work emerges from exasperation of and for the limits of language and builds on pervious approaches, focusing on exploring the grey area, the overly forgotten nature of ineffable, indescribable, in between emotions and feelings that humans have. Incorporating explosions of spikes imbedded in and breaking out of ceramic vessels and sculptures satisfies want for abstraction and ambiguity — creating manifestations of how feeling indescribable emotions can be outwardly represented. remember? remember. focuses on memory mapping through the physical display of clouds as the inside of the mind, attempting to connect and organize details of specific memories.

Alongside set memory map installations, the viewer is also invited to arrange and rearrange details of an interactive memory map, participating in their own memory recall and recognition.
